The Delta Gamma Lambda Mobile Food Drive Returns!

Local Campaign Kicks off Spring Initiatives for the Cincinnati Alphas

In collaboration with the DGL Youth & Education Foundation and the Freestore Foodbank, the Delta Gamma Lambda (DGL) Mobile Food Drive is back. Our monthly food drive campaign returns Saturday, April 8, from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm, (or while supplies last) and will be at the A. Morton Food Pantry in Greater Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Church located at 4781 Hamilton Ave.

We invite the underserved communities for a ‘contactless’ experience to receive one box of food items that can feed a family of four. The boxes will include canned goods and produce, along with some perishable items. Participants can drive up to the location and members of the Fraternity will load packages into the vehicles.

What originally started because of the enduring hardship of the Covid-19 pandemic has continued to help families in need. Beginning in July of 2020, the DGL Mobile Food Drive started as the Fraternity saw the need to help impoverished communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that may have experienced job or health loss due to the virus. Since then, the Fraternity has given over 72,470 pounds of food to families in need throughout the Cincinnati area. These neighborhoods include Avondale, Price Hill, and others.

In light of the fraternity’s mission of providing service and advocacy for the community, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the DGL Youth Foundation hopes this event will help ease the burden of hunger from the pandemic, rising inflation, and other hardships.
