DGL, AMR, and North College Hill’s Mentorship Program Ends Academic Year Strong

Program aimed to prepare students for behavioral challenges entering junior high school completes pilot at North College Hill

NCH students complete the A.I.M program

The Delta Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated along with Academic Mastery and Re-Connection (AMR), and the staff of North College Hill Elementary School (NCH) recently completed the first year of the mentoring program ‘Action In the Moment’ or A.I.M. for the 2022-2023 academic year. The program took place at North College Hill Elementary School and was geared toward fourth and fifth-grade male students.

A.I.M was developed to help improve and prepare students for behavioral challenges as they enter junior high school through 1:1 mentoring, team-building activities, and learning sessions. The sessions covered various topics including teamwork, emotional awareness, healthy expression, and accountability. The idea and concept of A.I.M comes from North College Hill Elementary School Principal, Sheena Redman. North College Hill Elementary School teacher’s La’Kiesha Gentry and Raven Jackson served as coordinators for the program. Austin Sanders of AMR provided technical assistance. Brother Stephen Mosby, Brother James Cowan, and Brother President, Rayshawn Walton led the efforts on behalf of the chapter and served as mentors.

By the end of the program, each student provided a recap of what activities they performed and lessons learned from each session. We thank everyone who helped to make this program a success. We look forward to continuing for the 2023-2024 academic year.
