$25,000 in scholarships awarded to students at annual DGL Youth & Education Foundation event
The Delta Gamma Lambda (DGL) Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and the DGL Youth & Education Foundation hosted The Esquire Beaux Recognition & Awards Ceremony that took place on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 12:30 pm, at The Dillard Center in Cincinnati’s Walnut Hills community. The event recognized and awarded scholarships to high school students that have shown high achievement in their academic studies. Four of the 22 student recipients are graduating Beaux in our local Esquire program.
Originally created as the Theodore M. Berry Scholarship Beautillion, the annual event closes out the year-long Alpha Esquire initiative coordinated by the DGL Youth & Education Foundation. The goal of the initiative is to provide individual mentoring and leadership training for its participants through programs, which emphasize Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated’s aims of manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind. In addition, the Esquire Beaux Recognition & Awards Ceremony was designed to aid in the transition of high school to college. The Foundation has provided financial incentives to college-bound men for the past ten years through the Ceremony.
“We continually support our youth through our programs throughout the year, the Alpha Esquires, being our most robust”, says Director of Educational Activities, Brother Dean Bryson. “It’s an honor to play a part in their continued success in their academic development with financial support with our annual scholarships. We encourage them to move onward and upward.”

18 other scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors, who will be attending college in the fall, throughout the greater Cincinnati area.
