Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Gamma Lambda Chapter will co-host two free CPR training sessions for community members on Saturday, February 14 and Saturday, February 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The sessions will take place at the UC Health Business Center, South Entrance, in the PRIIDE Room, located at 3200 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
Presented in partnership with the Center for Closing the Health Gap and True Community Inc., the CPR trainings reflect the Chapter’s ongoing commitment to community wellness, preparedness, and access to lifesaving education throughout the Greater Cincinnati Area.
The Center for Closing the Health Gap is a grassroots organization focused on building a culture of health in Cincinnati by eliminating racial and ethnic health disparities through advocacy, education, and community outreach. True Community’s mission is to structurally improve the well-being of communities through sustainable, people-centered initiatives.
Participants who successfully complete the training will receive CPR certification on-site.
“Receiving bystander CPR within two minutes of cardiac arrest gives one an 81% greater chance of survival and hospital discharge, as Blacks are TWO times less likely to receive bystander CPR than whites. Learning this skill can save the life of a loved one, acquaintance, or a stranger”, says Brother Dr. Clyde E. Henderson. “DGL’s involvement in this free CPR training is true to our Fraternity’s mission of community service and advocacy”.
Registration is required, and space is limited. Community members are encouraged to register early to secure a spot in one of the sessions.
